Rolin's Reptiles was designed for a client looking for a logo for their new reptile breeding business. For the design, he asked for a hognose snake to be incorporated into the logo, and gave reference example of the style, which gave a retro-beach scene.
I kept the colors inline with what the client desired, using bold blues and pinks to make it feel more retro. The palm trees add to the retro look, giving a Miami vibe. However, palm trees also make the design feel more tropical, which fits with the reptile theme.
The hognose is incorporated as a silhouette that wraps around the whole design. It is kept minimalist to not distract from the rest of the design, but the signature hognose snake nose distinguishes its breed.
